The Twilight Sad – “There’s a Girl in the Corner”

The Twilight Sad

Like shoegaze slowed down to half-speed, “There’s a Girl in the Corner” by Scot rockers The Twilight Sad layers and layers chiming guitars and synths to extremely satisfying results. Toss in a well-placed kick-snare combo and lead singer James Graham’s resonant – and delightfully Scottish-sounding – vocals and you’ve got a recipe for semi-depressing success. Just what you’d hope for a band that calls themselves The Twilight Sad.

The first track off their forthcoming fourth record, “Nobody Wants to Be Here and Nobody Wants to Leave,” “There’s a Girl in the Corner” adds to the band’s miserbalist legacy and should get all their black-clad fans whipped into a mopey frenzy in anticipation of the album’s October 28 release on FatCat Records.
