Hundred Visions – “You’re Gonna Cut Me Loose”

Is there anything more satisfying than a broken heart story as told via the anguished yowl of a rock song? If you’re on the fence, Hundred Visions will have you saying “no” in approximately three minutes and 35 seconds. That’s how long it takes to listen to the Austin outfit’s second single off “Spite,” their upcoming sophomore release on Pau Wau Records, and that’s about how long it should take you to remember your last exceptionally painful relationship flameout.

Kicking off with a destroyed-amp sound reminiscent of “Drain You,” the track grabs hold of your heart with clawing fingers, and by the time you reach the pained “AhAhAhAhAh…” of the chorus, you’re feeling the ache too. But then the buzzsaw solo-cum-outro drops in to change that pain into anger and the cycle of jilted love is complete. Not too shabby for a sub-four minute track.

Austinites can check out these local wailers at a couple of upcoming shows, but the rest of us will have to wait, presumably until sometime after their new record drops later this month – October 28, to be exact.
