Bully – “Trying”

Alicia Bognanno is the singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer and engineer for a Nashville-based rock band called Bully, and she is a badass. Bognanno went to school to learn audio engineering and then interned with Steve Albini and taught herself to play guitar. Bully feels a lot like some 90s rock artists I liked  – The Breeders, Liz Phair and Dinosaur Jr., with songs are simple and vocals lean that are full-throated and passionate.

I’ve had “Trying” on several playlists all summer and it shows no signs of getting old. It’s a great one for rocking out.

Bully’s debut album is called Feels Like and you can get it now. I highly recommend it.
