Wand, “Flying Golem”

The only thing better than a fuzzed-up homage to psychedelic rock is an appropriately trippy accompanying video.

Luckily, you’ll get it both and more with “Flying Golem,” the new track from Wand – a four-on-the-floor romping-stomping beat, distortion-drenched guitars punctuated by wailing mini-solos and vocals not too far removed from “Pictures of Matchstick Men.” That’s before the video, an animated trip – yes, that’s the right word – through the eponymous legend of the song’s title.

You won’t find much information on the band from the usual sources – but when a track rocks and rolls through three-plus minutes like this, what other info do you need?

Oh, how about this? The LA band’s debut LP, Ganglion Reef, is out now on God? Records. Wand is also playing a handful of dates on the West Coast:

Wed. Sept. 24 – Missoula, MT @ Ole Beck VFW Hall
Thu. Sep. 25 – Seattle, WA @ Therapy
Sat. Sept. 27 – Portland, OR @ The Know PDX
Mon. Sept. 29 – San Francisco, CA @ Rickshaw Stop
Tue. Sept. 30 – Los Angeles, CA @ The Echo w/ La Luz
